April 15, 2012 marked 100 years since the RMS Titanic sank on April 15th, 1912.
On April 15, 2012, 100 years to the day Titanic sank, the US Coast Guard dropped 1500 rose petals where Titanic went down at 2:20 A.M.
Several other things happened that year throughout the world for the 100th Anniversary:
- James Cameron's 'Titanic' was re-released in 3D and it was re-shown on many TV channels.
- A 4-episode TV miniseries called 'Titanic' aired on ITV1/ABC.
- An new exhibition called "Titanic Belfast" opened in Belfast.
- In Malta there was a feast called FESTA BRAWLI.
- Discovery Channel released a special edition of their Titanic episodes: Titanic 100th Anniversary Collection.
- The MV Balmoral traveled to the spot where the Titanic sank with many relatives of the survivors and victims of the Titanic disaster to pay tribute.
- Titanic at 100: Mystery Solved first aired on History Channel.
- The RMS Titanic II was announced by Clive Palmer. The ship will be launched in 2027.
