Titanic Wiki

Adola Assim was passenger on the Titanic.

Adola Assim had a Syrian Lebanese background, but later lived in Buenos Aires, Argentinia in 1912. The likelihood is that he was a farmer and stayed in his original country or in Europe and now wanted to take passage in Southampton to go back.

He was one of four men in their twenties that were headed for Buenos Aires. The other three were William Ali, Ahmed Ali and Ali Assam. It is possible that the 4 men knew eachother well. All of them got onto the passenger liner in Southampton, taking the trip in Third Class. It was April 10, just after noon when they were aboard and leaving England.

The voyage was aborted on the night of April 14 when Titanic got very small slits from an iceberg collision, which let water into the ship. The breach was so severe that the vessel was sinking. After midnight, on April 15, the captain had noticed that the water was rising fast and designer Thomas Andrews had to confirm: Titanic couldn’t be saved. They then began to evacuate the passengers.

The end drew near at 2:20 A.M. Broken in two, Titanic went down and had many casualties who ended up in the frigid waters. Adola and the others were not able to get into a lifeboat and make it off alive.

Of their bodies, only the one of William was found.
