The Akademik Mstislav Keldysh is a boat that appears in James Cameron's Titanic. In real life it is a scientific research vessel owned by P.P. Shirshov Institute of Oceanology and is operated by the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Besides taking part of the 1997 film, the Keldysh made expeditions to the real Titanic and the German battleship Bismarck. James Cameron, the director of Titanic, led several expeditions for some of his movies, including the 2003 documentary film Ghosts of the Abyss (Titanic), the Discovery Channel special Expedition: Bismarck (Bismarck) and the 2005 documentary Aliens of the Deep.

It was the research boat used by Brock Lovett and his crew to find not only the wreck of the Titanic, but also the Heart of the Ocean. It is also known as the ship where the old Rose told the story of her experience aboard the Titanic.
