"It was a big boat, isn't it?..."
His first appearance was when he and his little daughter were discussing the size of the Titanic. He talked to Cora how big a boat Titanic was, Cora corrected him in a funny, wise way for a child: "Daddy, it's a ship." They also reappear waving goodbye from the stern, right next to Jack, Fabrizio, the Irish Couple and the Dahl Family.

Bert Cartmell with his daughter in the stern
It seems they became acquainted with Jack and Fabrizio afterwards. After Titanic left the Coast of Ireland, Bert and Cora were drawn by Jack Dawson in the stern.

"Cora, we have to go now...say goodbye to Uncle Jack..."
In one of the deleted scenes, Bert and his wife are seen picking up Cora from Jack's care, telling Cora to say goodbye to Jack.

Bert Cartmell during the Third Class party
During the third class party, he seemed to be enjoying the party while drinking beer next to his wife, and happily watching Cora dance with Jack.

"What?? What is he saying about??"
When the Titanic sank, their cabin was violently opened and they were awakened by a steward to immediately put on their life jackets. Confused about what to do, they seem to go back to sleep.

"Open the gates!"
Until they finally realized that the Titanic was sinking, they had stayed behind. At 2:15 A.M., just before the stern started to rise, the water had started to reach them, they immediately rushed to one of the Third Class gates which turned out to be locked. The three of them drowned there.
