Passengers and crew members of the Titanic who were children, ranging from a newborn, infants, to 14-year olds, looking at their age at the time they were onboard.
There were 128 children in total. 11 from First Class, 26 in Second Class and most were in Third Class, 89. The most victims were in Third Class, 57. In First Class, only 1 child, Lorraine Allison died because the Allison family searched for their missing baby that had already been taken aboard a lifeboat by their nursemaid Alice Cleaver. First Class children often had nursemaids or nannies looking after them. Two children in Second Class were lost.
Three of the children disembarked at Cherbourg and one at Queenstown which meant they avoided the disaster.
There were even 2 young boys serving as a crew member. They didn't make it off Titanic safely either.
Some boys were regarded as grown men from 13 years old, as Officer Lightoller even wanted to refuse a 13-year old untill his father got angry and basically forced Lightoller to let the boy go with his mother.
They didn't have a special place aboard for their own entertainment like in later years, but the children in First Class could use the Gymnasium for free and there was a few hours planned exclusively for them, and no adults could disturb them. The instructor Thomas W. McCawley was very kind to them, and patient because he really enjoyed teaching them.
