Dining Saloon Steward is a fictional character in A Night to Remember (1958). He worked as a First Class Dining Saloon steward on the Titanic. He was portrayed by Edward Malin.

Role in the film

The Dining Saloon steward tell another steward that the Titanic might have thrown a propeller blade

His first appearance was when he was cleaning the dining table and suddenly felt a tremor caused by the collision with an iceberg. At first he thought and told to one of the other steward that maybe Titanic had accidentally dropped one of its propeller blade like in the old Majestic before.

When the Titanic began to sink rapidly and all the boats had been launched, he came out onto the boat deck through the second class entrance, surprised to see a little boy who was confused looking for his mother. He immediately picked him up and went to find the child's mother (even though his mother was already in the lifeboat).

Unable to find the boy's mother and the water was getting closer, he carried the boy running towards the stern and was almost trampled. He shouted to the people around him to keep off from the child and hug him warmly.

Eventually the water began to reach the stern, while the people at the stern prayed for their life, he said "Oh God!", and assured the boy that we will be survived. Both he and the boy drowned with the Titanic.

• His actions to retrieve a missing child seem to inspire a scene in the 1997 film Titanic, when Cal finds a missing child and rescues her.
• It was proven that he had worked on SS Majestic after he said that maybe Titanic had the same thing as in SS Majestic before, thrown one of its propeller blade.
