Emma Eliza Bucknell was a First Class passenger of the Titanic. She survived the sinking.
She boarded the ship at Cherbourg with her maid Albina Bassani as First Class passengers. They occupied cabin D-15 (ticket number 11813, which cost £76, 5s, 10d). One of Emma’s friends on board was Margaret Brown. While awaiting the Titanic on the tender at Cherbourg, Emma told Margaret brown that she had "evil forebodings" that something might happen to the ship. Mrs. Brown laughed but Emma would have cause to remind her of her words only days later.
After Titanic had hit the iceberg and as Emma and her maid were making their way to the lifeboats, Emma ran into Margaret Brown and whispered to her, “Didn’t I tell you something was going to happen?” Some of the women took places at the oars in lifeboat 8, one of the first lifeboats to be lowered on the port side and Emma found herself rowing beside the Countess of Rothes. She helped rowing until her hands were blistered.
