Barber shop

The barber shop as shown in Titanic: Honor and Glory

The First Class Barber Shop was located on C Deck, just off the Aft Grand Staircase. This room was open between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. There was a barber, Augustus Weikman, permanently on staff who offered shampooing, shaving, and hairdressing services for 1 shilling (£5 in 2018) or $0.25 each. The room itself was installed with two swivel chairs, a marble counter top with two sinks, and leather-padded waiting bench.

The Barber Shop also offered small souvenirs and collectibles for purchase, including postcards, White Star branded trinkets, tobacco, dolls, penknives, and hats. The souvenirs could be purchased by passengers visiting the barber shop.

Guests travelling in second class had their own barber shop located on E Deck, and there were no grooming facilities for the steerage passengers travelling in third class. In the first class shop the chief barber was Augustus Weikman who stayed at his post during the sinking but was fortunate enough to be rescued and survived the disaster.

Wreck Edit

This room was torn away with the Aft Grand Staircase in the ship's breakup.
