Josefina Franchi was born on 17 September 1893, being a native of Switzerland and the daughter of Guiseppe Franchi and Elisabeth Blank.
She became married to Josef Arnold. A son, Josef, was born on December 9th, 1911. At the time they lived in Altdorf, Kanton Uri, Switzerland.
Josefina and Josef planned to visit New Glarus, Wisconsin, USA. They received prepaid tickets from relatives in Wisconsin but were unable to pay for their young son to come with them, so Josef (b. 1911) was left with his grandparents. They boarded Titanic in Southampton and Josefina was in the Third Class cabin #190 in the aft of F-Deck, along with her husband's cousin Aloisia Haas, Maria Kink, Luise Kink and her young daughter Luise Gretchen Kink. Josefina was 18 years old at the time.
Josefina and her husband both perished in the disaster that followed after Titanic hit an iceberg on the night of April 14, causing her to sink. Their bodies, if recovered, were never identified.
