Kitty is an Airedale Terrier owned by John Jacob Astor IV and Madeleine Astor.

She was confined in the dog kennels with the other dogs, under the responsibility of carpenter John Hutchinson.

It is unknown what Kitty's fate was during the Titanic's sinking. Madeleine Astor asks J.J. to get their dog. Legends stated that J.J. himself who came down to release Kitty and the other dogs from their kennels and lead them to the upper deck. However, this has not been confirmed. Kitty goes down with the ship and her master.

1996 Miniseries Titanic[edit | edit source]

In the original script, Kitty should have appear during the sinking when J.J. would release her from the kennels. J.J. said: "Goodluck, Old girl".

Titanic (1997)[edit | edit source]

In the 1997 Film, Kitty make a possible appearence as one of the Airedale Terrier dog running across the deck with another dog in one of the deleted scene: "Release the Hounds". She also mentioned by J.J. Astor in another deleted scene: "Benjamin Guggenheim and John Jacob Astor", J.J. said to Ben: "Madeleine ask to look for the dog".

2012 Miniseries Titanic[edit | edit source]

In the 2012 Miniseries Titanic, Kitty appear in some scene.

She first appear with her master took a walk on the promenade deck with Grace Rushton and her dog, Sookee.

During Titanic's sinking, J.J released the dogs from their kennels including Kitty and Sookee, and gave them to Grace Rushton, who she brought into Emergency Lifeboat 2.

Initially, they were refused entry by 4th Officer Boxhall, but were protested by Grace Rushton. Later, Grace Rushton returned Kitty to Madeleine Astor.

Although in real life Kitty goes down with the ship and her owner, in this miniseries she's survived.
