I think it's safer if we find that one of these ropes.

—Milton Long to Jack Thayer

In the 2012 Miniseries, Long was portrayed by young actor Richard Southgate as a minor character. He appeared only in episode 4.

Shortly after all the lifeboats had been launched, Long saw Thayer and immediately called out to him, asking why he didn't get the one of the lifeboats. Thayer explained to him that he was considered too old for being a children even when his mother begged an officer to let him get into the lifeboat.

Long and Thayer then planned to leave the ship immediately, Long argued to descend into the water using the lifeboat's davit ropes, but Thayer thought this was unsafe, and he chose to jump and swim into one of the lifeboats.

When the water reached the Boat Deck, Thayer jumped first, while Long hesitated to jump, but finally he jumped into the water, but never appear again.
