He first appeared at a bar, drinking beer next to Jamie Perse and Simon Doonan. Dickie told Jamie and Simon that he would board the Titanic in the morning, showing his ticket as a third-class passenger. He confessed that he had worked hard all his life to get the ticket and planned to move and work in Niagara Falls, USA.

Unaware that Jamie is the thief who is targeting his tickets, they toast to the Titanic and fall asleep in the alley near the bar. Jamie immediately stole his ticket and left Dickie there.

The next morning, Titanic was ready to leave Southampton port, leaving Dickie crying because he had lost his ticket and his dream to settle a new life in America. Jamie Perse boarded the Titanic under the name Mirriam Dickey, who's Simon Doonan realized that Jamie had stolen Dickie's ticket.

- Indirectly, Dickie was kinda of lucky not to board the Titanic, because in the end the Titanic sank and the Third Class male passengers had a small chance of survival.
