Norman history[]

Born[]

Norman Sturges was born in either 1901 or 1902, depending on the date of his birth, as he was 10 years old in 1912.

Before Titanic[]

Norman lived with his mother, Julia Sturges, his (non-biological) father, Richard Sturges, and his sister, Annette Sturges. They lived as a family until 1912, when only his mother and sister survived the Titanic disaster.

Titanic[]

Norman Sturges went on the Titanic with his family from Cherbourg to New York. Norman had a great time. He wanted to go to a match on the deck with his father, but when Norman entered living room and find the dad, Richard Sturges (Norman's father) changed his mind and refused to go to the match with Norman. He told Norman that he was not interested in the match. Norman said, "Yes sir..," and left in a hurtful manner.

Sinking of Titanic[]

Norman Sturges, when his family found out about the small (in their opinion) emergency, he got dressed and put on a life jacket, and went with his family to the boat deck. He, his mother, and his sister got on the boat. When they were lowering, an elderly woman asked the crew for a place on the boat, but there were no seats. Norman thought about it for a while, and gave her a seat. After that, Norman went to look for his father (Richard was still on the Titanic). Norman went to the boat deck and there was an explosion in the boiler room, and steam engulfed the ship and there was a shaking. Norman fell, and on the boat deck, when he got up, his father came to him and got up, and they left. Norman and Richard went to a crew member, but he said that unfortunately, all the boats had sailed away. Norman and Richard stayed on the boat deck, and after that, all the people stood on the boat deck and started singing the prayer "Nearer, God, to Thee." He was singing a song, and he stayed there. After that, there was a full boiler explosion, and the Titanic went underwater. Norman drowned.

Death[]

He and his father stood on the boat deck and sang a prayer with the other passengers, then there was a boiler explosion and the Titanic began to sink, the Titanic shook, the passengers fell to the floor, and then they drowned. Supposedly, Norman fell and drowned while lying on the deck, or because he was standing closer to the end, he could have fallen off the ship and drowned, but Richard was holding him back.
