Olaf Dahl and his family admiring the beauty and luxury of the Titanic
He first appeared with his family, being in awe of the beauty and luxury of the Titanic when gazing at her. A short while later he was seen again with his family, waving goodbye on the Poop Deck, right next to Jack, Fabrizio, the Irish Couple, and the Cartmell family. When they were looking for their cabin on G-Deck, Helga and Fabrizio briefly looked at eachother, he immediately took Helga away cynically.

In one of the deleted scenes, Olaf is seen reading a magazine while his wife is sewing a cloth. They seem to let Helga meet Fabrizio, Jack, and Tommy. When Rose came over to Jack, he took off his glasses and adjusted his seat, because it was uncommon for a First Class woman to visit the Third Class area.

During a Third Class party, he and his wife were delighted to see Helga dancing with Fabrizio, then watched as Tommy was wrestling his arms with Bjorn Gunderson and also watched as Rose displayed her toe-standing skills while he was drinking a beer.

"Come in the boat...in the boat...come on!"
When the Titanic sank, Olaf and his family were seen waiting for the Third Class Main Gate to open, then when they met Rose, Jack, Tommy and Fabrizio, they were invited by them to go up to the Boat Deck together, but Olaf and his wife did not understand what Fabrizio was saying, and didn't want to join their group, forbidding Helga too, and Fabrizio and Helga kissed goodbye.

Not long after, the main gate was opened, but it seemed they were too late to reach the Boat Deck, and all the boats had been launched. Desperate, the three of them ran to the end of the stern and held onto the fence, where they again encountered Jack and Rose. When the Titanic had begun to tilt almost 90 degrees, Olaf Dahl fell first, followed by Mrs. Dahl and Helga afterwards to death.
