Burned MV Seawise University aka RMS Queen Elizabeth

The RMS Queen Eilzabeth was a British ocean liner from the Cunard Line, formerly Cunard White Star Line, and sister of the RMS Queen Mary. As a luxury liner, she provided weekly service between Southampton and New York City, via Cherbourg in France. Her famed name still holds a record within a record that never has been beaten: being the largest passenger liner for the longest period in history, which was a whopping 56 years.

Career[]

After the beginning of World War 2, Queen Elizabeth & Queen Mary were painted gray. As a troop ship, she carried more than 750,000 troops across the Atlantic. After World War 2, the Queen Elizabeth was back to passenger service.

In late 1968, Queen Elizabeth left New York for her last voyage and soon afterwards, was retired as a floating hotel in the late 1968, after which she was sold to the Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL), functioning as the Seawise University, from 1970 to 1972,

Later in 1972, a fire erupted, and burnt her down so severly that she was nothing more than a wreck that had rolled over and sank half. They took her apart after this. Some material of the wreck was even turned into special edition Parker Pens, which hold a high value still today.
