—Ruth DeWitt Bukater, Trudy Bolt and Ruth's Personal Maid |
Ruth's Personal Maid is a fictional passenger on Titanic. She was served as Ruth DeWitt Bukater's personal maid, with her colleague Trudy Bolt, who served as Rose DeWitt Bukater's personal maid. She was a minor character and appeared only a few short times in the entire film, because of this, her actress is uncredited.
Role in the film[]
Her first appearence is during the boarding scene at Southampton carrying Ruth's luggage behind Trudy.
Later, during the sinking, Rose, Ruth, Caledon, Trudy and Ruth's maid headed for the Boat Deck on the First Class Grand Staircase. Ruth asked her and Trudy to turn on the heaters in their stateroom for tea (unaware of the severity of the situation).
Both servants complied and the maid handed Ruth a fur pelt as well as a lifebelt before leaving with Trudy. By the time the maids realised how serious the situation was, they seemed to be looking for Rose, Cal and Ruth (even though Ruth was already on a lifeboat, while Rose went to E-Deck to save Jack).
Strangely, when Cal and Lovejoy returned to the cabin, they did not meet Trudy or Ruth's maid, implying that they were looking for Rose and Ruth. Even when the last lifeboats were being launched, Trudy and Ruth's personal maid remained on the ship. Soon, the ship would founder rapidly and the Boat Deck became awash. After a few minutes, the stern started rising out of the water, eventually reaching 45 degrees. The two maids held on for dear life, but they couldn't. Trudy was held by a male passenger but she lost grip, causing her to slide off the A-Deck straight into the freezing water, which must have happened to Ruth's maid as well and it meant they probably died from hypothermia.
Because she's just a minor character, she didn't appear in the Rose's dream scene.
