Second Class was made up of middle class people. Second Class on the Titanic was considered as luxurious and elegant as First Class on other, smaller ocean liners at the time.

Second Class Accommodations[]

Second Class had cabins on the D, E, F and G decks with 168 staterooms in total. Most of the staterooms were very comfortable for the time. What is lesser known is the fact that some were unfinished or not furnished completely. Titanic's interior was rushed in some parts, one Second Class passenger in perticular complained about how her State Room was not heated and too cramped. But in general they were fairly elegant. Second Class also had an open promenade on the aft end of the Boat Deck, and enclosed ones on B Deck and C Decks. They also had a staircase with two stairwells, this was Second Class's main access staircase and their main way to get up and down to different decks. The staircase went from the Boat Deck all the way down to the G Deck. The Second Class staircase also had a lift. The Second Class Lift attendant was Reginald Ivan Pacey. On B Deck there was the men's Smoking Room, and for the ladies, on the C Deck there was the Library. On D Deck, there was the Second Class Dining Room and the First & Second Class Galley, where meals were prepared. The Second Class Purser's Office and the Barber Shop were located on the E Deck. There were no special accommodations beside the Cabins on the F Deck and on G Deck. A deck was only available for First Class.
