Second class cabins were not luxurious as first class though they were equal to the first class staterooms of other liners such as Cunard. That's why there were many second class cabins that might be used as first class staterooms in the event of high demand. There were 168 staterooms all along the ship, among the D, E and F decks. 46 of those were alternative 1st class.
