The Tank Top is the lowest deck of a ship, below the Orlop Deck. On the Titanic, it housed the engines and Boiler Rooms. The boiler rooms also were in this deck. This was the first deck to flood. The water got washed in Boiler Room 6.
The name 'Tank Top' stems from the space inbetween the plates on the bottom of the keel and the plates on this deck. The space was subdivided into ballast tanks as well as tanks for salt water.
