Titanic's Third Class Main Entrance was the place where the most Third Class passengers boarded the ship. It was a stairwell, starting at C Deck going down all the way to G Deck The C Deck landing had easy passages to the General Room and the Smoke Room. It could be accessed from the Aft Well Deck and served as the 'main stairwell' for Third Class passengers.

Random Information[]

Stairs d n2

The 3rd Class Staircase was a very plain and simple stairwell that ran along 3rd Class sections of the ship located in the stem. This staircase extended from C-Deck down to G-Deck, and was the only means through which 3rd Class Passengers could reach the Aft Well Deck and 3rd Class Promenade. Many movies and books have portrayed Third Class passengers as being locked behind gates, preventing them from ascending to the boat deck above during the sinking. However, this is simply not the case-the 3rd Class Stairwell had no such gates, and passengers were free to use it to ascend to the decks above. The only thing keeping them from the boat deck itself were signs along the Aft Well Deck that stated 3rd Class Passengers were not allowed beyond that point. So strong was the class divide in 1912 that even when the ship was noticeably sinking, many 3rd Class Passengers still dared not venture to past these warnings to the upper decks, instead choosing to await their doom.
