Titanic Voyage is a once-a-year, eight-day-long, online role-playing game, that allows you to experience the maiden voyage, and sinking, of the infamous, ill-fated, RMS Titanic, in real-time (GMT), from April 10 - April 18. And, best of all, it’s completely free!
Founded in 2009, it is the largest, and most well-established, Titanic roleplay of its kind, with an average of 2,000 registrations every year. Presented in a large chatroom format, with the ship’s rooms themselves being divided into smaller chatrooms, you can explore the ship at your leisure, talk to your fellow passengers, make new friends, and establish your character and their story as the voyage progresses.
The possibilities are endless, and you are free to tell your own story, real or fictional, as detailed or as relaxed as you like. You don’t even need a story! You can simply get a feel for what it was like to sail aboard. Everyone has their way of role-playing, and their level of experience and all are welcome.
- Register as a 1st, 2nd or 3rd class character, or member of the crew. Make your character, or play as a real, historical passenger, and bring their story to life once again.
- Collaborate with other players, and travel as a party. Or travel solo, and make new friends along the way!
- Customise your character: Choose your avatar and show off your style with outfits.
- Choose your boarding location: Southampton, Cherbourg or Queenstown, all of which are fully explorable, and have unique features and attractions. Experience the hustle and bustle of Southampton docks, and the Titanic’s near-miss with the New York. Board the special boat train, from Paris to Cherbourg. Explore the town, and endure the Titanic’s delay, before embarking on the tenders Nomadic and Traffic. Or stay overnight, at a hotel in Queenstown, and board the following day on the tenders Ireland and America.
- More than 80% of the ship to explore: Jump around on the deck plans and even cross class barriers. With dozens of viewpoints in each room, many of which have been supplied by our friends over at THG!
- Interactivity: Eat, drink, sleep, and take care of your needs, all of which affect your chances of survival later. Choose from extensive menus, all of which are unique depending on the dining venue and class.
- Play games, such as poker, blackjack and snakes and ladders. Win money if you are good enough! Or maybe luck will be on your side!
- An in-game orchestra, played at set times, as well as a huge playlist of period music, much of which is from the White Star Line songbook, for you to listen to at your leisure.
- Host and attend shipboard events: Make your event. Just set a time and a place! Or, attend one of the many others, hosted by fellow passengers. Concerts, parties, book readings, and more!
- Make in-game purchases: Buy tickets to the gymnasium, Turkish baths and squash court. Or, perhaps fork out for some champagne and caviar, for that extra special occasion!
- Be witness to major events that transpired throughout the voyage, events that you have only read about in textbooks, but now, will be able to see play out before your very eyes!
- Experience the sinking: In real-time, with sound effects, animation and more. Try and board a lifeboat, or take your chances in the icy waters of the Atlantic.
- Sail on a fully-explorable Carpathia, and experience her arrival in New York. Even if your character dies on the Titanic, you can continue to play, by re-registering as a Carpathia character.
Titanic Voyage aims to be a fun and enjoyable experience for all, but we are also very mindful of the fact that we are recreating, and portraying, a very horrific event, and we strive to do so as respectfully as possible. By the end of the voyage, we hope that our players will have experienced at least some of the range of emotions that Titanic’s passengers did, and leave with a greater appreciation and understanding of the true horror of the disaster, and with a closer connection to Titanic and her passengers.
Our main aim is to commemorate the Titanic’s voyage and her tragic sinking and to honour those who lost their lives, ensuring that their and Titanic’s, legacy never dies.
Registration opens on March 10 every year at 12 AM GMT. The styled first-class staterooms are booked extremely fast, so be sure to come along as soon as it opens if you want one! We hope to see you onboard!
